Robert brings to his real estate brokerage practice a broad occupational and educational background coupled with a depth of understanding about the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Having grown up in Manhattan Beach, Robert has lived, worked, and built his real estate practice here and in the surrounding comunities of Redondo and Hermosa Beaches for over 4 decades and counting!
Growing Up: As a kid growing up on the 1400 block of 5th street in Manhattan Beach, I vividly remember the post-WWII, 3 bedroom, 1 bath “stucco box” house I grew up in until going off to college. It had a huge backyard complete with a functioning chicken coop. Finding a new egg in the chicken coop was like finding treasure and was one of my earliest childhood memories! I can tell you with certainty that the era of the chicken coop in Manhattan Beach is sadly over.
My two younger brothers (Tim and Todd) and I played in the many vacant lots in the neighborhood at the time, rode our bikes to the beach, and played Premier Little League and AYSO soccer when you could still find Polliwogs in the swamp behind the field. That swamp eventually became Polliwog Park. MBMS was Foster A. Begg Junior High School and Mira Costa split the Manhattan Beach high school kids with Aviation High. Aviation shut down twenty odd years ago and is now the Redondo Beach performing arts center.
We added a living room and second bath in the seventies to that 5th street house and today it still stands, waiting only for the current owner to put it on the market before it is torn down. The block is about ½ redeveloped, with 4000+ square foot homes now dominating the neighborhood.
Credentials: Robert has been active in real estate for 15 years now. He earned a BA at UC San Diego in Economics and Psychology and holds an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. Robert is active in several areas of real estate besides real estate brokerage, including development and investment property acquisition and management. Having moved to Hermosa Beach 20 years ago, Robert is an active surfer, volunteer AYSO and Hermosa Valley School soccer coach, and a regular teacher at the South Bay Adult School on the topic of building real estate wealth.
Client Selection: Robert is selective about the clients he works with. His clients tend to be move-up buyers, looking to either trade up or add an investment property to their portfolio. Robert specializes in helping people build wealth through real estate and will often recommend strategies that a conventional realtor or advisor would not. Before he lets his clients sell a property, he makes sure they have explored all options for holding onto the property. Robert is expert at 1031 tax exchanges and the other unique tax advantages real estate enjoys. He marshals a team of tax, accounting, and legal experts for the benefits of his clients. As a result, Robert’s clients are fanatically loyal for life and most have bought and sold through him numerous times. 95% of his business is repeat and referral business from satisfied clients. He limits the number of clients he works with so that he can spend the proper amount of his time servicing each. If selected, he will go the extra mile to focus on your needs and situation so that you get the best possible counsel and execution of your sale or purchase!
